Random Tuesday

I haven’t posted anything random in a while, so here we go!

  • Am I the only one who thinks about improving my vocabulary after hearing a good speaker/teacher?
  • I caught myself making a list within my list today…that’s too many steps, Audra.
  • I will download 2-3 apps to test run and then delete them all the next day. Most apps are time suckers! But they all look so cool in the App Store…
  • If someone is wearing socks and sandals, I CANNOT stop myself from staring at their feet. (I’ve seen it a lot this summer time.)
  • The one thing I enjoy about summer is the weather is very predictable. It’s always just hot and I never have to carry a sweater!

Now it’s your turn. What are some random things you’ve had on your mind recently?

Trouble on Aisle 9

Ever have to make a guess about an item on a shopping list?

It can be tough….

Sliced olives or whole olives???? The note only says olives!!!!

Shopping for someone else, especially someone you don’t know very well, is tough. I struggle with second guessing and even resort to asking random shoppers for advice.

Excuse me. Can I ask  you a quick question? If you saw olives on the grocery list, (here’s what we’re making)do you think the olives would need to be whole or sliced?

I’ve been known to call someone 3 times from the grocery store.

This is why I prefer a list that has ALL of the specifics. Buy that kind and this brand and in that color if they have it. The more details I’m given the better.

If there’s any way I can snap a picture of the item, that’s even better.

Yes, I am the girl in Aisle 9 holding up a picture of the thing you’re looking at on the shelf. Don’t judge me!

I realize this is a trivial matter. Buying the wrong kind of olives will not result in fatality. The only thing that can go wrong is your recipe is messed up.

But going back to the store….that just stinks, okay? Having to return an item requires a long walk of shame or, even worse, you hear this:

Well, that’s not what I wanted, but I can just take it back next week. Thanks for trying.

Thanks for trying sounds like this to me:

How could you mess this up?!?

This week alone I’ve run to the store 3-5 times to pick up supplies at work.

Now you know the battle I’ve been facing.

Grocery store angst is a real thing.

Office antics rock

Office antics crack me up.

My coworker left a note on my apple–the one that’s been sitting on my desk for the past week–and it caused me to belly laugh.

I was simply shocked to see my normally stoic coworker do something so silly. Of course, you’re talking to the girl who:

  • Recorded her coworker trying a nori (seaweed) chip for the first time
  • Shot the same coworker with a Nerf gun daily
  • Hid behind doors and scared the same coworker
  • Included a joke in almost every email that I sent out

If I had to be super serious all the time…I’m just not sure that’s sustainable for me.

I guess it’s good that every boss I’ve ever had thinks I’m kinda funny. In fact, many of them looked to me to be the resident funny person.

Humor is the key to job satisfaction.

Forget all that stuff about having a good work ethic and all the right college degrees. None of that matters.

Okay, okay it matters a little bit. Though, having halfway decent people skills and a sense of humor are the true keys to success.

At least, it’s always worked for me…

Maybe I shouldn’t say it’s the law just because it’s working for me. (I’m not one of those annoying bloggers that claim to have all the answers.)

My library addiction

I have an addiction…

The public library.

There. I said it.

Any excuse to go to the library gets me excited.

The librarians probably dread to see my name on the hold shelf because that means I will most definitely call them to see if my materials have arrived.

Before I hit up Red Box, I go to the library.

If I fall in love with the music in a movie, I go to the library.

And now my new habit of being a total fan girl that makes me want to see every movie my favorite actors/actresses have ever been in…

Not to mention all of my leadership stalking (we’ve talked about this before) that causes me to hit up YouTube to check out all of a leader’s public talks and the library to check out all of their books…

Sigh.

At least library materials are free, right? Because I just can’t stay away.

Plus, libraries are just cool places to hang out. Did I mention that most libraries now sell coffee?

You guys think I’m exaggerating about my library addiction, but I go to the library 3-4 days a week.

Here’s my question to you:

Are there any local places you enjoy hanging out?

5 Friday Funnies

I don’t have a lot of words in me today, but I do have several funny pictures.

The primary reason I scroll through social media is to look for funny pictures and jokes. Here are 5 pictures that have found their way into my phone. I have texted them out to friends and shared them online.

These pictures make me smile and I hope they make you smile too!

The joke’s on you!

Figuratively, of course.

Technicalities and Cuteness

I’m visiting a friend today so my post will be short and funny.

Courage didn’t want to wear pants today.

He kept taking them off and throwing them at people.

I said, “Courage, you need to wear pants.”

This was his response:

He technically was wearing his pants so I can’t complain.

My Heart Can’t Go On

Today, I found myself singing “My Heart Will Go On” because sometimes a girl needs to dream.

Maybe my star crossed lover is waiting on the next sinking cruise liner.

The problem, though, is I never remember the words.

And then enters YouTube! A lyrically confused girl’s best friend.

The music video is a gem.

A floating bride?

A sophisticated recorder player?

A weird bald guy staring at the moon?

Your decisions are scaring me!

I just can’t take this seriously….

My sides are still hurting…..

Plus, you get to sing along with Celine–and wonder why there are two random men staring at the moon.

I watched the music video with three thoughts in mind:

  1. This one music video explains the numerous emotions of a teenaged girl.
  2. Why didn’t I take playing the recorder more seriously?
  3. That moon is so big! Where’s a wolf when you need him?

The audience was enthralled while I was dying from laughter.

My hairbrush went back into the drawer (we’ll sing another day, my friend) because you can’t sing while hyperventilating.

If you need a good laugh, please watch this video.
